In the making

No bag is ever a quick idea…

The process to develop a style is often overlooked – I for one never expect a bag to take 8 months but this is almost always the case. Your discover parts that do not work, have to ‘find’ a solution and then test that to discover another part no longer works. But, it is always worth it.

The new linen bag is made from the left over pieces from making the ‘Antique Linen & Leather Bags’ becuase I did not have the heart to throw such gorgeous fabric away. Hence the name: ‘The Linen Patch Bag’.

Sample after sample I worked out how to make a small, delicate and interesting little bag – that still has the same old-school charm and sophistication of the ‘Antique Linen & Leather Bag’ that I love so much.

Still the pattern had to be developed and later today I will hopefully collect them from their last step. On Monday I will show you how this bag was finished with gentle tucks, a laser engraved antique nickel pres stud, a magnetic closure, a leather strap … and …. and …
