The Businesswomen’s Association is the largest and most prominent association of business and professional women in South Africa.

The BWA provides a valuable platform for the inspiration and empowerment of women in business through a variety of initiatives and opportunities for personal growth and development. Apart from creating networking opportunities for its members, it makes a strong contribution towards developing the next generation of women business leaders.

Significantly, the BWA has presented the Businesswoman of the Year Award since 1980 and also runs regional achiever awards to recognise the achievements of women in business. These awards actively seek to identify, acknowledge and cultivate entrepreneurs, corporate and professional women leader in the various regions.

The finalists for 2017 were of an incredible calibre. I was nominated as a finalist for the Emerging Entrepreneur category.

So many of the businesses, and female-led positions of the finalists are incredibly inspiring. I was particularly impressed with the passion of Thula Thula and TOMA-Now, finalists for Emerging Entrepreneur.  The video created by Dreamcatcher Productions showcasing each finalist and their business and or profession is terrific.

Here is our video:

Completely taking unaware at the prize giving ceremony on Wednesday the 26th of July 2017 at Kelvin Grove, I won the title of the Emerging Entrepreneur. This was an incredible honour and has left me feeling confident that it is only the beginning for Wren and that our future is exciting!
