About Optical Africa
A few years ago Wendren visited the Escher Musuem in The Netherlands and left resolving to develop a range that would create a trickery similar to so many of Escher’s works. Upon returning to African soil she found that many African printed textiles had a similar intrigue that captures you as you learn about the fable, story or message that is being portrayed. Marrying these two inspirations, the Optical Africa concept was born.
Screen-printed design by Diana Ejaita.
How do we make them? Reclaimed brown paper is collected from a local packaging factory. This is then screen-printed and fused to a special cotton to make it strong enough to stitch. Once made up by our team of very skilled seamstresses the sleeve is sprayed with to be water resistant
And there is more: There are two pockets – one for the device and the other for pens, papers, cables – or whatever you wish to use a second pocket for. To close, the iPad sleeve magically hold shut with two magnets that will not damage your iPad mini or kindle.
