The Fern 8 Polysticum Wallet is a compact paper wallet that answers all cash, card and coin needs. This range is a collaboration with well-known South African design studio EVOLUTION PRODUCT.
Blagrave’s Ferns:
In 1860 Thomas C. Blagrave created a comprehensive study of ferns in South Africa. Blagrave was a retired lieutenant colonel from England who created this unique and comprehensive study of local ferns in during his stay in Wynberg, South Africa. He recorded his findings of fresh and dried specimens as photo prints. The texture of the photographic paper and the iridescent effect of the film in contrast to the negative silhouette of the ferns captures the magic of these plants and time.
Made with reclaimed cement bag paper which is digitally printed with archival images in collaboration with EVOLUTION PRODUCT. This special paper is then fused to cotton to make it strong enough to stitch and each product is handmade by our team of very skilled seamstresses. We also treat the Square Wallet with Nano Liquid Glass (an environmentally friendly coating) that makes the paper water resistant – just to make it that much more practical!
Inspired by origami folding which looks at careful and clever construction, each Square Wallet is made from a single piece of paper. With time, the wallet takes on its own personality; it softens and the print distresses revealing some of the virgin brown paper, but durability is in no way compromised.
Features: Held together with precise folds and stitch, the Square Wallet has 4 card pockets – each that can hold multiple cards, a centre bill fold and a hidden coin compartment. This coin compartment fits flush between the back and the middle layer of the wallet and is our favourite feature making this wallet truly unique.
All sections are held tight by a central magnet that closes each side with a satisfying snap!
