Made from reclaimed packaging paper, like all of our other great products. Treated in the same way to be strong and durable. With time, as the paper ages, the cracks become distressed and the white paper becomes visible. The look is one we love even more. The Japanese would say it is Wabi-Sabi. It lives!

How do we make them? Reclaimed white packaging paper is collected from a local packaging factory. The paper is then screen-printed, fused to cotton for strength – like we do with the PPC Cement Laptop Bags. The inside is lined with padded black brushed cotton to protect your phone and belongings from knocks and bumps. We also treat the bag with Nano Liquid Glass (an environmentally friendly coating) that makes the paper water resistant – just to make it that much more practical. Yes, it is just paper, but paper with science!

And that’s not all: 1) There is a pocket-sleeve tucked under the flap, in front of the main pocket. 2) The sleeve closes with two hidden magnets 3) The cotton strap can be adjusted from a long sling strap to a snug waist strap in seconds

The Promenade in Sea Point is one of designer Heather Moore’s a favourite places in Cape Town, because there is just so much to see. Waves & surfers, paragliders & windblown trees, pram pushers & wheelchairs, dogs & joggers all make up a passing parade that’s one of the enduring pleasures of Cape Town life, & one that’s free for all to enjoy.

Alongside the passing parade, the Promenade has a wealth of midcentury architecture, which adds a particular charm to the stretch of Beach Road from Mouille Point to Three Anchor Bay.

After years of walking, driving, cycling (and once even rollerblading) past the mosaic wall of the public bathrooms on Beach Road, Skinny laMinx designer Heather Moore stopped to sketch the design, and realised that it was the first time she’d looked at it properly.

The result of taking the time to slow down and look closely at this unnamed piece of midcentury public art is the PROMENADE collaboration with The Wren Design.

This new collection of the Wren’s signature paper laptop sleeves, bags and wallets are screenprinted with two designs – MEANDER and PROMENADE – in playful colours that express the freewheeling joy of an aimless summer stroll along the Sea Point Promenade.

“Take a Story With You” is the Wren’s slogan, and the story of the PROMENADE collaboration with Skinny laMinx is reminder to slow down and take note of the everyday beauty available for all to see.
