At Wren, we believe that art is a powerful way to reimagine the world around us.
This year, Wren celebrates movement, change, and the connections between places and moments. Our latest artist collaboration, “Between Here and There”, explores the moments and environments that define these places.
“This collection is a tribute to the spaces that inspire us – the pauses that spark reflection, and the hidden beauty found along the way.”
ANOTHER WORLD By Amy-Lee Tak
Amy-Lee’s artwork evokes the liminal feeling of daydreaming. Rich details and vibrant colours create a playful escape, inviting viewers into a dreamy space between reality and imagination.
About the artist
Amy-Lee Tak is a self-taught artist with over six years of painting experience. Based in Woodstock, Cape Town, Amy-Lee paints from her cosy shared studio, guided by a love for rich, vibrant colours. Her art playfully explores womanhood, unapologetic rest, and the ongoing pursuit of comfort in one’s own skin.
Amy-Lee’s whimsical, idealised portrayals of femininity are deeply personal, reflecting her own journey toward softness, self-love, and the beauty of being imperfectly human. Through her work, she combines current cultural references and self-deprecating humour to create relatable pieces that connect with modern audiences.
Her unique style captures the gentle balance between introspection and humour, inviting viewers to explore the vulnerability and strength that coexist in everyday life.
About “Another World”
Amy-Lee’s piece for Wren’s “Between Here and There” collection draws from her experience of drifting between worlds—caught between the physical present and the pull of a memory or daydream. A lifelong dreamer, Amy-Lee wanted this artwork to evoke the liminal feeling of being lost in thought, a space where time slows, and imagination takes over.
Inspired by the idea of functional bags and pouches, she created a design that mimics a fabric-style print, ensuring it works harmoniously when cropped or viewed from different angles. Her attention to detail brings a sense of wonder and invites viewers to lose themselves in the artwork’s intricate elements.
“A celebration of unapologetic daydreaming and the colourful, unseen worlds within. Originally painted in gouache and ink on paper, from Cape Town, with love.” ~ Amy-Lee
