Since 2008, Wren has worked at the intersection of design, sustainability and craft, creating functional pieces from reclaimed paper and natural fibres — and partnering with brands, institutions and creatives who share a commitment to considered making.

The Original Story
It began with an elephant. Captivated by the bold graphic on Pretoria Portland Cement’s packaging, our founder, Wendren, saw more than a cement bag - she saw possibility. One day, while driving behind a truck stacked high with them, inspiration struck: what if this material could be transformed into something entirely new?
That moment sparked Wren’s evolution into paper crafting and gave rise to the brand’s flagship product - the PPC Cement Laptop Bag - a piece born from curiosity, creativity, and a belief that even the most ordinary materials can be reimagined into something iconic.
Material-Led, Purpose-Driven
Wren is best known for ProtectPaper® - our proprietary material developed in-house and refined over years of use.
Made from reclaimed paper fused to cotton and finished with water-resistant nanotechnology, ProtectPaper® challenges assumptions about what paper can be. It is strong, flexible, and designed to age beautifully over time - gaining character rather than wearing out.
