Wren is proud to share a special project where Wendren, our founder and textile designer, created a hand-illustrated Notebook Organiser for one of South Africa's most iconic destinations, Babylonstoren - a place where nature, design and considered living come together.
Drawing on the farm’s landscapes, architecture, and animals, Wendren created a one-of-a-kind illustration. As a trained textile designer, she reinterpreted her love of toile de Jou, a traditional French style depicting everyday scenes-using loose, sketch-like cross-hatching to create a lighter, more contemporary version. Her design adapts the classic style to reflect South African landscapes, architecture, flora, fauna, and everyday life.

The result is a beautifully made notebook range that reflects the shared values of both brands: design rooted in purpose, deep respect for nature, and craftsmanship that honours local production.
Each notebook features:
-
- Hand screen-printed cover on Wren’s innovative ProtectPaper®, a fusion of reclaimed paper, cotton, and nanotechnology.
- Carefully matched tip edges and colour-stitched spines.
- Two internal notebooks (plain and printed) wrapped in a string-tied envelope.
These details reflect the meticulous care and sustainability principles that define Wren Design, and echo Babylonstoren’s philosophy of considered creation and storytelling through design.

The Babylonstoren x Wren notebooks is a project celebrating illustration, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
